Giving Back

“We cannot just want things, but we must also receive and give. In the future, and even now, whenever we receive, we must also find a way to give.”

—Royal address of HM King Bhumibol Adulyadei to students at Khon Kaen University, April 20, 1987.

We believe in giving back to communities. Ultimately, giving back benefits both parties. From our own experience, we know that making a significant investment of time and money changes people from the inside out. We support the following enterprises:

Titian Foundation was established in 2006 and has a strong track record in community building through educational scholarships, teacher training and supporting women‘s rights. Titian Foundation partners with companies to provide long-term, cost effective and sustainable support in communities.

Starting from one village in Aceh, Titian has gone on to manage US$8.0m in development projects on behalf of its partners and has directly touched over 4,000 lives.

The Chairman’s Trust was founded in 2006 in memory of CLSA’s first two chairmen, Jim Walker and Gary Coull. The Trust raises funds through an annual Dealing Day, in which all net commissions from the day’s trading are accumulated into the Trust.

The Chairman’s Trust provides support to those communities that have not been so fortunate to directly benefit from Asia’s remarkable growth story. The Trust primarily supports education, health and welfare, and environmental needs. While fully independent of CLSA, the Trust receives financial and administrative support from the company so that all donations given to the Trust are used to support its operations.

To date, the Trust has touched over 100,000 lives.
